SKOOKUM Festival
Music Festival website - A wildly civilized weekend of music, creativity and culinary excellence
Get ready for a wildly civilized weekend of music, creativity and culinary excellence. Stanley Park is getting a new multi-day summer festival with entertainment, food, and art components which promises to be Metro Vancouver’s new signature summer finale.
Intergalactic is excited to be a part of this thrilling event! We worked with our partners BRANDLIVE and Will Creative to build and host both the teaser announcement and the full site for the festival. Featuring lots of images, videos, bios, and montages, the announcement of the music lineup has fans excited already.
Our partner BRANDLIVE is the the event production company responsible for events such as the Honda Celebration of Light, and the Squamish Valley Music Festival. Speaking of the Squamish Valley Music Festival, Intergalactic worked alongside BRANDLIVE to create a pretty neat website with a fun, dynamic canvas. And we are thrilled to reinforce this relationship with our SKOOKUM project!
According to their brand new website, "Originating from the historical Chinook Jargon of the Pacific Northwest, SKOOKUM translates to strong, brave and impressive. It also means celebration." And this is precisely how we feel about our partnership and the beautiful work we did together. Our project involved working within the nature of festival planning to create an engaging website, functional across desktop and mobile.
With a tight build schedule, our team is proud to have delivered the site for the big press release. And big it was: The music lineup was released at an event at Chambar Restaurant in conjunction with our site launch. Apart from the lineup, the countdown clock and carousel help to keep the content up to date for enquiring fans.
Our Content Management System allows our client to have a high degree of customization. Their team is now able not only to easily publish the current lineup but also to add new artists, food amenities, art installations, and also entirely new sections to their website as the program evolves. But that's not all—Intergalactic was able to build the site in a way that allows for BRANDLIVE to repurpose the site in the future without the need to build entirely new websites from scratch each time.
SKOOKUM will run from September 7 to 9, 2018 at Brockton Point in Stanley Park, and the event is expected to have a capacity of 20,000 people per day. There will be multiple stages featuring the best contemporary music across broad genres, styles, and cultures. The site will be animated with live and multimedia art installations, in addition to roaming talent and surprise pop-up performances. A sophisticate food and beverage program will be offered to provide unique culinary experiences.
The weekend will also include late-night events in downtown Vancouver that will be known as SKOOKUM After Dark, featuring unique urban venues and intimate concert experiences for event-goers that don't feel like going home after the main festival site closes down for the day.
“This festival is the result of a conversation that began five years ago to create a more accessible and inclusive festival for Vancouver and British Columbia,” said Paul Runnals, the Festival Director of SKOOKUM and a partner at BRANDLIVE, in a statement.
“We want to evolve the festival experience and establish a new standard for creative expression across the three pillars of Music, Food, and Art – all set in one of the most spectacular locations in the world. SKOOKUM is the embodiment of this vision and we could not be more excited to share this announcement.”
The aim of SKOOKUM is to “celebrate diversity and creativity and showcase some of the very best in music, food, and art,” according to media materials. “SKOOKUM is about the music that moves us, the food that delights us and the art that inspires us.”
Intergalactic is honoured to have been part of the creation of this beautiful event, and we proudly credit our success to our amazing team who, with their technical wizardry, made it all possible!
